Guard Museum
Established in 1862 as a frontier militia,
the South Dakota National Guard is
tightly woven into the state’s history.
The South Dakota National Guard
Museum in Pierre is the state’s repository
for relics, memorabilia and historical > Lewis & Clark Family Center
documents relating to the Guard’s Feel the difference between elk and
activities from the late 1800s through buffalo hides. Learn to identify the
recent peacekeeping missions. Open tracks of native animals. See a dug-

> The Sunset Paddleboat
The Pierre/Fort Pierre area has the last
working paddlewheel on the Missouri!
The boat takes visitors on cruises of
the area and has a total capacity of
120 and a dining capacity of 84, with
an on-board beverage bar and catering
available. Reservations are available
through Steamboat, Inc. by calling
