South Dakota Game, Fish
& Parks provides licenses
for both hunting and fishing!

South Dakota Game Fish & Parks holds
an annual state parks open house and free
fishing weekend. During this time, anyone
may fish in South Dakota without a license.
The rest of the year, licenses are required
for residents and nonresidents.

South Dakota issues resident and non-
resident hunting licenses in game-specific
categories. Application deadlines are typically
two to four months before the season opens.
Some nonresident licenses are available via
lottery only. Parents may purchase youth
permits for their children. Visit www.gfp.sd.gov
for season dates and application deadlines.

U.S. and Canadian citizens license
requirements and regulations can be
found online at www.gfp.sd.gov.
