Promoting prosperity, growth, and our way of life in the lower Oahe region. The Pierre Area Chamber remains committed to that mission for Pierre/Fort Pierre during what has been an unprecedented and difficult week for all businesses across the country. Our priority is the health of our community, your business, and your employees. As such, we have formulated the following responses and strategies to advance strong economic activity in line with factual health recommendations from our member partners.
First, we will continue to do everything in our power to keep you informed with medical updates, workplace information, and other resources to help you, your business, and your family make sound decisions. Please visit our regularly updated business resource toolkit for virus monitoring information, business guidance, and community news. To add any information, please contact mgordon@pierre.org.
Second, the Chamber staff will continue to work to support our businesses and community. At this time, will work remotely through March 30; we are available via email and will respond to voice messages to the Chamber office. Please find our contact information at this page.
Third, per recommendations from government and partner health officials, the Chamber will practice an abundance of caution regarding upcoming events and meetings. We find it both prudent and responsible to reschedule upcoming events in March and into April to later dates this year. In some cases, in lieu of in-person events, we will offer digital alternatives so you can still receive valuable business- and community-intelligence. Please see below for specific event updates. We will be updating our events calendar and social media pages with additional information.
Fourth, we want to hear from you! Please let us know in this form the challenges and needs of your business, employees, or family. We will work with our community partners and volunteers to help find solutions that quickly impact your situation. We understand as schools close and generally the public practices social distancing, needs will quickly escalate from staffing, to child and pet care, to putting food on the table, and everything in-between. This is a confidential form, directed to our Chamber staff. No challenge or concern is too small. We are here for you during this challenging time.
Lastly, we ask that you remember small businesses are an essential part of the community this week, and every week. Locally-owned restaurants provide to-go options and retailers offer gift cards, classes, and online purchasing. Supporting our small businesses, even with a positive online review, is crucial at a time like this.
Related, we must recognize that this is an opportunity to be a super community member and steward to our neighbors. Reach out to older members of the community and those with families and ask how you can help. You can make small impacts in Pierre and Fort Pierre that will help keep the community we love healthy and thriving.
