of its new Vietnam War memorial, the Pierre Area Chamber of
Commerce announces a companion project that will further
honor the state’s Vietnam veterans: a book titled The
Vietnam War: South Dakota Remembers. |

Created to honor South Dakotans who served during the
Vietnam War, 1961–1975, this book presents biographies,
stories and photographs submitted by veterans and their
spouses, family members and friends.
Other features of the book include:
- paintings and drawings by the soldier-artists of the Army
Vietnam Combat Artist Program
- an interview with the artists who created the monument
- a timeline of the Vietnam War
- a list of South Dakotans declared killed or missing in
action

Dakota Remembers
If you are a Vietnam veteran, please return to the South
Dakota Vietnam War Memorial Web site and submit your
biographical information. It will be included in South
Dakota Remembers and will become a part of the permanent
historical record. We also encourage you to send personal
reflections and photos depicting your experience in Vietnam
for possible inclusion in the book. All photos and
reflections will become part of a Vietnam archive and should
also be sent to the Vietnam War Memorial Web site.
